Full dentures are typically the most recognizable form of dentures. This method of restorative dentistry is used to replace an entire top or bottom row of teeth. Your prosthesis will be composed of a gum-colored acrylic base with false teeth attached to it. The teeth are made of porcelain, which is extremely durable. Full dentures are secured to the gumline with a dental adhesive.
For those with some teeth remaining in their gumline, partial dentures can be used to fill the space left behind by missing teeth. Partial dentures are also composed of an acrylic base with false teeth, but they have metal clips to attach to the surrounding teeth. Porcelain material is especially important in partial dentures as it can be made to match the exact shade of your natural teeth.
There are several reasons patients are turning to dentures for their restorative dentistry needs. The most notable benefits include:
- Boosts your self confidence
- Improves eating & speaking capabilites
- Last up to 15 years with proper care
- Supports facial structure
How are dentures made?
Dentures are made over a series of appointments. We will take several impressions and send them to an offsite lab where they will create preliminary molds of your dentures. These molds will be shaped and altered to conform to your gumline perfectly before a final denture is cast.
